About me
Coffee. Writing. Jesus.
I have a passion for spiritual formation and young people.
After twenty years of walking with the young people of South Africa as a teacher, youth pastor, school chaplain, National Director of Scripture Union’s ministry to the Independent church schools of South Africa and the Managing Editor of SU Mag, I began a new adventure by working from home to support my wife in her work, be available for our two kids as they navigate their teen years and focus on a few youth ministry projects.
Projects
RFM Advance
Come follow me…
Matthew 4:19
The RFM Advance is a 40 day spiritual formation journey for teens who have a desire to be awakened to God’s activity in their life and gain biblical insights around life purpose and decision making. The journey is based on my devotional book, the Reason for Me.
Youth Ministry Course
Receive instruction…
Proverbs 19:20
Exploring the theological ideas which underpin the practice of youth ministry is a necessary and vital work. As the head writer for a Higher Certificate in Youth Ministry course, being developed by TEE College (Theological Education by Extension), I’m afforded an incredible opportunity to apply my time to this field. Much of the course work is centred around answering the significant question: “What is effective youth ministry in a Southern African context?”
follower
My yoke is easy…
Matthew 11:30
I serve with Follower which is a small community of people from different parts of the world, and different expressions of the Christian faith, who gather together at different times to learn and practice the way of Jesus. At present, I’m developing a Ministry with Youth focus journey for those walking with young people, such as youth workers, youth volunteers, youth pastors and school chaplains.
RTW Podcast
Ask for the ancient paths…
Jeremiah 6:16
I just started this! The podcast is about following Jesus and ministry with young people. So look out for the first season entitled “Church, school & the kitchen sink”
“Earth’s crammed with heaven, and every common bush afire with God, But only he who sees takes off his shoes; The rest sit round and pluck blackberries.”
