RFM Advance

A 40 day spiritual formation journey for teenagers.

It gives you so much to think about and so many things that you may have never thought of before or never realised before, and overall, it is just an amazing journey.

So, is the 'Advance' like a retreat or camp?

Well, a retreat or camp is more about getting away from everything to focus on your relationship with God. However, this journey starts and ends (and hopefully keeps going) right there in your every day life circumstances. An Advance is about moving forward in your walk with Jesus.

Who is it for?

The RFM Advance is a 40 day spiritual formation journey for teenagers who have a desire to:

  • Be awakened to God’s presence and activity in their daily life.
  • Gain new insight about life purpose and decision making.
  • Connect with Christians from different contexts.
  • Develop spiritual practices that’ll foster growth in their relationship with Jesus.

What does it involve?

You will journey for 40 days with a small group of other teenagers who are also doing the RFM daily devotions. Once a week we’ll meet online (Sunday’s at 16:00) for an hour to reflect on the week.

What content is covered?

We’ll be covering some of the key foundations for your spiritual formation as a Christian such as

  • the bible, prayer, God the Creator, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the church.

We’ll also look at some of those issue most teens struggle with such as

  • peer pressure, identity, friendships and decision-making.

We’ll even explore some of the harder issues such as

  • suffering, purpose and understanding God’s will.

And you’ll be introduced to a few ancient spiritual practices such as:

  • Practicing God’s presence, the prayer of Examen and Lectio Divina.

The teen years are particularly important for finding your own identity and path through life. My latter teens years were marked with some truly difficult decisions. These decisions spanned from what to do with my life (possible career choices), my relationships and my role as a young Christ follower. I was blessed to have the counsel of Xavier who understood real world struggles and could help me navigate them with sound biblical advice.
